Camber Castle

Camber Castle lies near the Cinque Port of Rye, less than six miles from Pontin’s Camber Sands Holiday Park. The castle was built between 1512 and 1543 as part of King Henry VIII’s coastal defence system and there are now guided tours of the castle every month. Don’t forget to look out for emblems built into the stone work, evidence of hundred year old renovations and bastions where the cannons were contained.

Take a walk around the outside of the castle at any time throughout the week and admire the symmetrical circular structure of the fortress, or visit during opening hours to gain access to the central tower, as well as exploring other historical areas of the castle.
